TO TROBICH, DANIELSON, AND NWA EAST
Lou Marconi once again has sent more videos to the NWA East web staff.
Just as in the other videos, his favorite topics are Ryan Mitchell and
Bryan Danielson. But these videos take a slightly different turn. Now
that Marconi has defeated Mitchell for the NWA East Three Rivers
Championship, he promises bigger things for his 216 Clique and the Sean
"Shocker" Evans Memorial Tournament, scheduled for Friday August 6th in
McKeesport, PA...
In his second video, Marconi turns his attention to NWA President Robert
Trobich, almost pleading to him that Danielson doesn't deserve an NWA
World Heavyweight Title match against champion "Scrap Iron" Adam
Pearce...
Finally, Marconi demanded a photo of himself and the 216 Clique be taken
following his title victory over Ryan Mitchell at Summer Assault 4 and
be posted here on the website, threatening physical harm to a member of
the web staff. So here it is, in all its glory...
JULY 12th, 2010 MORE FROM MARCONI ABOUT

Mitchell is scheduled to run the "216 Clique Gauntlet", and Marconi
reveals his intentions in attacking Mitchell recently...

participate in the tournament. This week, we have two more names added
to the list: Lou Marconi and Shirley Doe! These two hated NWA East
veterans will enter the tournament, where the winner gets an NWA East
Heavyweight Title match! With Marconi making it known his return to NWA
East is only for gold, and Shirley Doe always on the lookout for the top
title in NWA East, these two will add some incredible competition to the
tournament!
JUNE 18th, 2010 YOUTUBE UPDATE! TEAM MEGA
ON THE ROAD THIS WEEKEND AT NWA MOUNTAIN STATE!
NWA North American Tag Team Champions Ashton Amherst & James Ross,
two-thirds of Team Mega, are on the road this weekend hitting NWA
Mountain State. In preparation for action this weekend, they sent these
two videos to the NWA East webstaff....
JUNE 11th, 2010 YOUTUBE UPDATE! CUPID'S
TOUGH QUESTIONS, TEAM MEGA ON THE ROAD, PLUS SEAN "SHOCKER" EVANS
TOURNAMENT NEWS!
We have a HUGE NWA East YouTube update today!
First up, the first in Kid Cupid's new weekly segment, "Tough
Questions". Cupid has paid for the space here on nwaeast.org for the
airing of "Tough Questions", and in this episode, he confronts Team Mega
of James Ross & Ashton Amherst...
Speaking of Ross & Amherst, they're headed on the road to defend the NWA
North American Tag Team Titles on July 18th & 19th in NWA Mountain
State. Here's what they had to say about it, and the Bunkhouse Boys, two
men who had a lot to say about former champions Excellence Personified:
Finally, a little friendly competition between friends. Chris Taylor won
the first annual Sean "Shocker" Evans Tournament in 2008. In 2009, Ryan
Mitchell won the second tournament. This year, they're the first two men
entered into the 3rd tournament, so Taylor caught up with Mitchell at
the gym...
JUNE 7th, 2010 Dash Bennett is new NWA East
Heavyweight Champion
Dash Bennett has realized a nearly decade long goal in the
NWA-East and has become the new NWA-East Heavyweight Champion!! This, of
course, did not come without a ton of controversy as the now-former
champion Patrick Hayes actually had Dash's shoulders pinned to the mat
for the 3 count not once, but twice during the course of this title
match.
Dash came into the match prepared to do and use anything he possibly
could to gain the elusive title win as he was actually caught by referee
and Championship Committee member Shawn Patrick with three foreign
objects before the opening bell even rang. Throughout the match Dash and
his longtime manager Stacy Hunter used every shortcut, cheating tactic
they could, but they could not put down the champion Hayes. To Hunter's
credit, she put her body on the line in this one to help her client get
the win.
Referee Shawn Patrick was knocked out during this match which saw
Patrick Hayes gain what should of been the winning pinfall, but no
referee was there to make the count. This gave Dash a second life that
saw him use a pair of brass knuckles on Hayes. He could only secure a
two count however, so he hid the knux in Hayes' kneepads. A second
referee made his way down when Hayes gained the momentum and was able to
hit his finisher, the frog splash, to get the 1,2,3.
However, Dash was quick to point out that Hayes had used a foreign
object to get the win.... the brass knuckles that Dash himself had
placed in Hayes' kneepad. The referee found the knux and restarted the
match. Dash took quick action by hitting Hayes with yet another foreign
object, but still only could get a two count. Hayes made a huge comeback
only to have it cut short when Dash saw and used the Heavyweight Title
belt that was laying in the corner of the ring(because Hayes was
celebrating what he thought was the win) on Hayes' head. Dash then
covered Hayes to get the 1,2,3 and become the new champion!!
Immediately after the match, Mad Mike's music hit and he came out to
cash in his title shot he had won as one of two survivors in the Fan
Appreciation Survivor Series Match in early May. Dash balked at this and
told Mike that he was not going to ruin Dash's moment in the sun and
began to walk out of the building. Championship Committee Member Shawn
Patrick then informed the new champion that, while he did not have to
defend the title right there and then, he would indeed have his first
title defense on July 16th against Mad Mike in a match with any
stipulation Mike wants.
After his title loss, Patrick Hayes was certainly in no mood to talk as
he would only tell the us here at the website that this is not the last
you will here of Patrick Hayes and HIS Heavyweight Title!!!
Travis Fame, 1/2 of the former NWA-East Tag-Team Champions The
Hellraisers, has suffered a major injury that could threaten his career
in the short term and possibly the long term as well. Fame competed in a
match outside the NWA-East on Sunday only a day after he was viciously
attacked by Sean Dahmer suffering what was only thought to be a mild
concussion amongst other bumps and bruises. But things took a shocking
turn on Sunday after Fame, against doctor's orders, competed in a match.
Upon arriving home, we have been told that Travis complained of feeling
lightheaded and nauseated and within moments he fell to the ground
losing consciousness. Fame was taken to the hospital where he was
diagnosed with a Grade Three concussion. Fame is currently still in the
hospital undergoing further evaluation as his timetable for a return is
very much up in the air.
We wish Travis Fame a full and speedy recovery as the rookie has shown a
ton of heart both in and out of the ring.
JUNE 7th, 2010 216 Clique Proving A Major Threat To
Three Rivers Champion Ryan Mitchell
Current NWA-East Three
Rivers Champion Ryan Mitchell has proven to be one of the top stars in
the NWA-East over the year and a half he has been in the promotion. He
has taken on all comers and has defeated the best this company has to
offer. But, Mitchell has managed to be on the wrong end of a returning
former Heavyweight Champion's wrath in one Lou Marconi.
Marconi made his fulltime return to the NWA-East after a nearly nine
year absence when he came to the ring to challenge Mitchell "out of a
gesture of respect" to the current champion. Mitchell, being the
fighting champion he has been, accepted the challenge for his title
under the impression that this would be a matchup between two
professionals. This would prove to be a fatal flaw as Marconi did not
return to the NWA-East alone. Minutes into the match with Mitchell on
the clear upper hand, two men came out of the crowd to attack Mitchell as
Marconi then joined in. The two men were Marconi's protégés Dan Graham
and Will Esquire. The three men put an unmerciful beating on Mitchell
before making their exit after a challenge by Chris Taylor and Blue
Dragon who made their way down to the ring to help out Ryan.
Mitchell would later rush the ring to attack Marconi during the
aforementioned tag-team match, declaring that he and Marconi were now at
war.
At the next event on June 5th, Marconi showed that he did not come
unprepared again as he had Graham, Esquire and a returning Frank
Stalletto with him. Stalletto was one of the top stars in the NWA-East
during it's early years of the mid to late 1990's. Stalletto and Marconi
were two of the men who ran roughshod over the promotion at that time.
Marconi stated that this was now the 216 Clique and that they would be
the dominating force in the NWA-East once again as they targeted Circle
Of Respect Member and current star Mad Mike amongst others.
Later in the night it would be Marconi who attacked Mitchell once again
as he was able to cinch in his armbar submission hold on Mitchell after
Mitchell's match against Jason Cage. Marconi only relinquished the hold
after every referee in the building pried him off of Mitchell.
Now Mitchell seems to be heavily outgunned as the 216 Clique is four
deep with a promise of more on the way from Lou Marconi. Can Ryan
Mitchell come out on top of his hardest test to date and who will he
enlist to aid him in a battle that he is hopelessly outnumbered in? And,
exactly how far will Lou Marconi push the envelope in the NWA-East as he
has been known to go way too far in the past.....
In a stunning development, the NWA-East Championship Committee has
delivered a 30 day suspension to one half of the tag-team known as The
Uprising Payton Graham!!
The suspension was handed down minutes ago and will be retroactive to
the date of the last live event, May 21st. Graham was visibly upset
after his team's early exit from the #1 Contenders Tag-team Gauntlet
Match at the last event. His anger spilled backstage as he attempted to
confront his fellow rookie arch-enemy Travis Fame outside the Jacob Woll
Pavillion. When referees and Shawn Patrick attempted to break the
confrontation up, Graham reportedly slapped referee David Marino in the
face and spit on Shawn Patrick and then made physical threats towards
Patrick and the referees.
Shawn Patrick has told us that he will not tolerate such abdominal
behavior from anyone and that Mr. Graham needed to be knocked down a few
pegs and this suspension will do that and give him time to cool his
jets. Patrick has also said that he is looking into another matter that
took place backstage at the last event as well, but refused to elaborate
any more.
This couldn't have come at a worse time for Graham and The Uprising as
they duo needs to gain any kind of momentum they can get to make
themselves legitimate title contenders and this will do nothing but set
them back even further. The ill-timing could go even further as there is
now a hot rumor going around that the NWA-East is planning a return of
The Steel City Classic Tag Tourney. This was a hugely successful
tag-team tournament run by the NWA-East at the beginning of 2006 and now
the rumor is that it may make it's annual return to the promotion soon!!
MAY 18th, 2010 NWA EAST STARS SPEAK OUT ON FRIDAY
NIGHT'S UNFORGIVEN 4!
MAY 3rd, 2010 THREE LONGTIME FANS TO BE INDUCTED
INTO THE SECTION OF HONOR FAN HALL OF FAME!
A tradition began in 2009. A new wing was opened in the Circle of
Respect, NWA East's version of the hall of fame. This wing was the
Section of Honor, a section to honor our biggest and best fans
throughout the years. The first two inductees were fans Ray Mendez, who
the Fan Appreciation Night event is named after, and Champ, who for the
last 15 years can be seen front row and every NWA East live event.
This year, three more individuals will be inducted into the Section of
Honor. Quinn Magnum will induct Mary & Jamie Benton, while JB Destiny
will induct Jim Flynn. All three have been diehard NWA East fans since
the days of the PWX WrestlePlex in the back of Eastland Mall in North
Versailles in the mid-to-late '90s!
APRIL 21st, 2010 ASHTON AMHERST INVOKES REMATCH CLAUSE,
INSERTED INTO TITLE MATCH THIS SATURDAY!
After Patrick Hayes defeated his former tag team partner Ashton Amherst
at Burgh Brawl 14, Amherst immediately sought out ways to get a shot at
the belt he just lost. After an unsuccessful pass through the Burgh
Brawl 14 battle royal, Amherst felt there was nothing left to help him
back to the Heavyweight Title. That is, until he discovered the contract
for the title match. When Shawn Patrick was reinstated to the new
Championship Committee the night of Burgh Brawl, he sped through the
usual proceedings for all the title matches that night, and got all the
participants to sign contracts for them last-minute (as they were
already arranged just by a handshake and verbal agreement).
When Amherst reviewed his contract, he noticed there was the standard
rematch clause for title matches, thus he would be granted a rematch for
his title in the event that he lost it. With the help of a legal team,
Amherst confronted Shawn Patrick about the chance of a rematch this
Saturday night since he was rushed through a contract signing.
Begrudgingly, Patrick agreed and inserted Amherst into the match between
NWA East Heavyweight Champion Hayes and the challenger, Burgh Brawl 14
winner Chris Taylor, making it a three-way dance! Can Hayes now overcome
twice the odds? Will Amherst reclaim the title? Or will Chris Taylor
once again recapture the title?
The only way to find out is by showing up at the Jacob Woll Pavilion in
McKeesport's Renziehausen Park this Saturday night at 7:30 PM!
APRIL 16th, 2010 PWX REWIND: 2004 - MAD
MIKE WINS NWA EAST HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE AFTER WINNING BURGH BRAWL 8!
On March 27, 2004, Mad Mike realized a longtime goal when he won
the NWA-East Heavyweight Title against then-champion Nikita Allanov.
Mike earned the right to wrestle for the Heavyweight Title after he won
Burgh Brawl 8 by last eliminating his longtime tag-team partner, friend,
and fellow RAGE member Quinn Magnum.
Mike would go into the March 27th match for the title against a man that
had just defeated him in a 'Russian Chain Match' a month and half
before. NIkita Allanov was one of the hardest hitting and most feared
wrestlers in the NWA-East at that time and was into his second
Heavyweight Title reign. Allanov went into this title match with all the
confidence in the world feeling as though he had Mike's number since
defeating him in that Russian Chain Match.
Nikita would be wrong though as Mike was more than up for the challenge
as the longtime fan favorite rode the wave of momentum from the NWA-Eats
fans and was able to capture the NWA-East Heavyweight Title for the
first time in his then 9 year career. Mike would reign as champion for
the next three months before abruptly retiring following a scary injury
from a flaming table that saw Mike literally catch on fire in a title
defense against longtime nemesis Boomer Payne. Mike never was defeated
for the Heavyweight Title as he retired the champion.
Mike would come out of retirement at the Anniversary Show in 2005 to
help reform RAGE with Quinn Magnum, Scottie Gash, and Brandon K. He
would then be gone for awhile before resurfacing again in 2009 to win
Burgh Brawl 13, but that time he fell short in his quest for the
Heavyweight Title.
However, Mad Mike is the last man to have won a Burgh Brawl and win the
Heavyweight Title with his won title shot. That is now 6 years and
possibly counting....
APRIL 16th, 2010 HOT NEWS FOR 4/16: MARCONI
RETURNS, CROSSFIRE LINE-UP, AND MORE HOT NEWS!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for April 16th!
--Former PWX Heavyweight Champion Lou Marconi will return to NWA East on
Friday May 21st at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The veteran from Cleveland
had a very successful return to NWA East at the 15th Anniversary Show in
September against current NWA East Tag Team Champion Robert Parker
Williams. At the time, Marconi entered into negotiations to return to
NWA East with the Championship Committee. When the Committee was
disbanded in January, those talks came to a halt. But now, with Shawn
Patrick back in charge as a member of the newly-reinstated Committee,
Marconi's signing was finalized and he'll return at Unforgiven 4 on May
21st! Stay tuned for news on who his opponent will be!
--Speaking of Unforgiven 4, we have a small scheduling change. In Harm's
Way 4: Ray Mendez Fan Appreciation Night was originally scheduled to
take place on May 21st. That show has been moved up to Saturday May 8th,
with Unforgiven 4 being moved to Friday May 21st. The dates are still
the same, but the shows just switched places. We apologize for any
inconvenience this change may cause our great fans, but we hope you all
can join us for these two big live events!
--Are you ready for a Weekly Dose of Vitamin Steele?
--NWA East returns to The Jacob Woll Pavilion on Saturday night
April 24th with Crossfire 3! For those unfamiliar with The Jake, it's located in McKeesport's
gorgeous Renziehausen Park, behind the tennis courts. Renzie Park is
located across the street from McKeesport Area High School, behind Penn
State: Allegheny Campus, just minutes from Rt. 48. There are
directions HERE,
courtesy of Google Maps. Tickets are on sale now by contacting NWA East at
nwaeasttickets@comcast.net
or nwaeast@comcast.net.
--The main event is set for Crossfire 2 as the brand new NWA East
Heavyweight Champion Patrick Hayes will defend the title against the
winner of Burgh Brawl 14, Chris Taylor! These two men have met several
times over the years, including in the finals of the first annual Sean
"Shocker" Evans Memorial tournament. Taylor came out victorious in that
match, but can he do it with the wave of momentum following the new NWA
East Champion?
--The NWA East Three Rivers Champion "The Steel City Prodigy" Ryan
Mitchell will be defending his title at Crossfire 3 against a young man
who earned his shot by eliminating Mitchell from the Burgh Brawl battle
royal, "Division 1" James Ross. Ross held the title in the past,
reigning from September 2008 until March 2009, giving him the fourth
longest reign in NWA East history. But with Team Mega in shambles, and
his manager Krystal Frost servicing Brandon K for the next 60 days
(thanks to a loss by Ross at Burgh Brawl), can Good Ol' JR focus enough
to win the gold?
--Another match made from Burgh Brawl eliminations is the NWA North
American Tag Team Title Match. The champiosn Brandon K & Scottie Gash,
Excellence Personified, will take on one of the newer teams in NWA East,
Payton Graham & Sean Dahmer of The Uprising. While critics may argue who
will win this one (see the latest edition of
Point/Counterpoint), you can't argue with success, and that is
exactly what Excellence Personified has had for one year. April 11th,
2010 marked the one year anniversary of the day Gash & K captured the
North American Tag Team Titles, and they've been able to hold onto them
against some of the top teams in the area. Can they continue their reign
or will the upstart Uprising cause the upset and unseat the champs?
--Another match formed from Burgh Brawl eliminations is a three-way tag
for the NWA East Tag Team Championship. In Burgh Brawl 14, Robert Parker
Williams was eliminated by Piston Wiley & Blue Dragon, while his partner
Ryan Reign was eliminated by Travis Fame & Apollyon. As a result, these
two new teams will get a shot at Golden Reign's NWA East titles. Fame &
Apollyon actually have a pinfall victory over Golden Reign, albeit an
impromtu non-title victory. Will that be enough momentum to bring them
another win over the champs? or will Piston & Dragon be able to get
another tag team win, but this time for the gold?
--Now here's where things get tricky. NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion
Devin Devine was eliminated from Burgh Brawl by Jason Cage and Troy
Lords. The rules would dictate that Devine would defend the title
against both men in a three-way, as the tag match above. However, the
rules of the Brass Knuckles Title state that the champion can make any
stipulation for his title defenses... a point that Devine, Dash Bennett,
and Stacy Hunter were quick to make to Shawn Patrick of the new
Championship Committee. Devine chose his stipulation, and it would be a
singles match against one of the two men who eliminated him, while the
other would get his shot at a later date. We're unsure of the measures
taken to determine who would get the shot, but it was decided that Lords
would get his shot at Crossfire 3, while Cage would get his shot on May
8th. Of course, Lords is damaged goods right now following a brutal
Knockout Match with Chris LeRusso at Burgh Brawl, so will he even be
100% for his match?
--With Cage left out in the cold for Crossfire 2, Shawn Patrick decided
to insert him into a match where a young man needed a tag team partner.
The Hansens were signed to take on Stryder and a partner, and here's
where Cage comes in! "Hot Property" and the rugby enthusiast from
California, PA will be taking on Crusher & Tony Hansen at Crossfire 3!
While it's a first time teaming together, the Hansens are no team to
sneeze at, so they'll have to be at the top of their game to take them
out.
--A huge NWA East legends six-man tag match has been signed for
Crossfire 3! The mad man from Dixmont Shirley Doe will be teaming with
the new Mon Valley monster alliance of Big Poppa Gator & The Beast to
take on JB Destiny, Paul Atlas, and the angriest man in professional
wrestling, Mad Mike! While we're unsure why ANYBODY would do this, Doe
seems to have made it his goal lately to make Mad Mike even... well...
madder than usual! Meanwhile, Gator took out Destiny and Atlas at Burgh
Brawl, ending his longtime friendship with Destiny. Then, to top it all
off, he aligned himself with the returning Beast, who once held the NWA
East Tag Team Championship with Destiny! This match is full of star
power, with four of the men in this match holding a place in the Circle
of Respect, our own hall of fame, and countless title reigns from all
around the area between the six men!
--Several shows ago, Dash Bennett and Jon Burton had a run-in at
ringside, which saw Bennett get in Burton's face following a big win by
JB. While Dash was busy at Burgh Brawl with an 8-man tag, the two men
are now set to meet one on one at Crossfire 3! Burton is on a roll,
going through the NWA East roster trying to get his way to the NWA East
Heavyweight Championship. His Just Believe Tour is at 3-0 with wins over
rookies Plato Meramec, Criss Crossfire, and Tony Hansen. But when a
former Brass Knuckles, Three Rivers, and Tag Team Champion is in his
path, can he still walk away unscathed? Or will Dash end the believing
once and for all?
--Also set for Crossfire 3 will be two youngsters looking to make a name
for themselves, Criss Crossfire taking on "Danger Zone" Dirk Dillinger!
We saw Dillinger make his debut in the Burgh Brawl battle royal, while
Crossfire has been hanging around NWA East for a year now, recently
showing a valiant effort against the NWA East Tag Team Champions Golden
Reign. Can he end any momentum Dillinger hopes to get in his first
singles match?
--Brandon K won the services of everybody's favorite harlot, Krystal
Frost, by defeating her charge James Ross at Burgh Brawl. His first
order for Frost was to go on a date with his good friend... the
returning "Lonely Lover" Kid Cupid! That date will take place at
Crossfire 3 on Saturday April 24th! Love will be in the air at The Jake!
--We've received word that "The Untouchable" Chris LeRusso will be out
of action indefinitely following the sickening double stomp he received
at Burgh Brawl 14 during his Knockout Match.
--Did you miss out on picking up the first set of NWA East Trading Cards
at Burgh Brawl? Don't worry, more cards will be available at Crossfire
3!
--Don't miss Crossfire 3 on April 24th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
The Hansen Brothers (Crusher & Tony Hansen) w/ Benjamin C. Steele vs.
Stryder & "Hot Property" Jason Cage
Jon Burton vs. "The Greatest American Villain" Dash Bennett w/ Stacy
Hunter
Mad Mike, JB Destiny, & Paul Atlas vs. Shirley Doe, Big Poppa Gator, &
The Beast
Criss Crossfire vs. "Danger Zone" Dirk Dillinger
Plus much much more, including Krystal Frost's date with Kid
Cupid, and more featuring all
your favorite NWA East stars!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope to see
you at The Jake on April 24th!!!
APRIL 16th, 2010 POINT/COUNTERPOINT: THE
UPRISING VS. EXCELLENCE PERSONIFIED
Point by Justin Sciulli The Uprising Will Pull Off The Upset!!
The Uprising( Sean Dahmer and Payton Graham) will do what no-one would
ever expect them to do and that is to win the NWA North American
Tag-Team Titles against Brandon K and Scottie Gash. That is right. I
said it. You heard it here first!!
The Uprising came into Burgh Brawl 14 with a plan and they executed it
to perfection. The didn't come in to win the Burgh Brawl match and get a
shot at the Heavyweight Title. They came in looking to eliminate both
Brandon K and Scottie Gash and thus earn themselves a shot at the titles
they covet the most: the NWA North American Tag-Team Titles! These two
men were near perfect in their execution of this plan as Dahmer was able
to eliminate Gash before K ever even entered the match with Graham's
timely help. Graham then eliminated K, with Dahmer's timely help, when
Gash was nowhere to be found in the match. Divide and Conquer!
Now these two hardhitting brawlers will take the fight to the chumpions
and you know they will have another masterful plan in the works. Dahmer
and Graham know exactly what I know as well and that is if you rough up
Gash and K, they become intimidated and thus become gun shy. Once that
happens, they will be timid and not at the top of their game. That is
when The Uprising will rise to the occasion and become the new
champions, right after they capitalize on K and Gash's mistake.
Plan, intimidate, capitalize and win. It is a simple formula that will
see the most shocking title win in years in the NWA-East. The Uprising
will be your new NWA North American Tag-Team Champions!!
Counterpoint by Mike Charles Excellence Personified Will Prevail As Usual
NWA North American Tag-Team Champions Excellence Personified(Brandon K
and Scottie Gash) will prevail in their title match against The Uprising
and they will prevail in a large way. This one isnt even close. K and
Gash are at the top of their game and have been mowing down opponent
after opponent. Who have The Uprising beaten? Enough said there!
Sure The Uprising are an intimidating team, but did I seriously see
above that they will intimidate the champions? Really, come on now. K
and Gash are not intimidated nor will they become intimidated at any
point. In fact, these two are two of the smartest wrestlers in the
NWA-East as well as two of the most technically gifted wrestlers here
too.
I really dont see this one as a even a remote chance of the titles
changing hands and I feel as though everything stated in the Point by
Mr. Sciulli is nothing more than wishful thinking on his part.
With that said, I hope that K and Gash dont take this as easy of a match
as I see it to be. The, and only then, would I see a problem for the
champions.
Point... by Justin Sciulli Why Ashton Amherst will retain the NWA-East Championship at
Burgh Brawl 14
9 months and counting!! That is the current length of the title reign by
your champion Ashton Amherst and as he proclaims in his all too true
video sent to this website, he may be undefeated during that time, but
he is undefeated in title matches during this time.
Let's face it, some men perform above and beyond when the pressure is on
and Ashton is one of those few which is why he is one the greatest
champions this promotion has ever seen! Ashton was right when he told
Patrick Hayes that he was second fiddle to him and was riding his
coattails. That is why the gold is around Ashton's waist and not Hayes'.
Ashton has successfully defended his title against some of the best PWX
has had to offer in it's 15 plus year existence, ie: Sterling James
Keenan, Scottie Gash, Brandon K, Mad Mike, and Ryan Mitchell, etc. He
knows how to get the job done one way or another and has the added
insurance of James Ross and Krystal Frost coming into this match as
well.
Finally, Ashton knows Patrick Hayes inside and out and will be fully
prepared to counter anything Hayes can throw at him and remain one step
ahead of Hayes at all times. He has already waged a successful war of
psychology and intimidation on Hayes and now is in Hayes' head so to
speak. Quite frankly, I am not even sure Hayes will be able to last
anywhere near 10 minutes in the ring against the champion.
Counterpoint.. by Mike Charles Patrick Hayes, the new NWA-East Heavyweight Champion on
April 10th
First off, allow me to say that Ashton Amherst has indeed been a
resilient champion for the last nine months. He also has been very, very
lucky in my opinion. Sure, he has successfully defend the title against
the men listed above, but if it wasn't for the help of Team
Mega(including Patrick Hayes), then Ashton would of been a former
champion a long time ago.
Patrick Hayes is exactly the last man Ashton ever wanted to defend the
title against. Ashton fears that Patrick knows him all too well and will
be on the lookout for Ms. Frost and Mr. Ross. Patrick will not hesitate
to break the rules himself which is something Ashton has not had to deal
with before. And, Patrick certainly has the momentum coming into this
match and that is a huge thing to have on your side. In fact, it is
Patrick that is in Ashton's head, not the other way around. The fans
have taken to Patrick as well and that, too, is a huge advantage. The
fans know that Patrick is the right man for the job of shutting Ashton
up once and for all and their overwhelming approval of Patrick at the
last event made that fact true.
Patrick Hayes is well aware that this is his first title shot in his
three years here and he knows that it could be the only one he gets for
quite sometime, especially if Ashton is the champ. Therefore, Patrick
will go into this match with a 'leave it all out there' frame of mind
and he will, without question, know what Ashton will throw at him and
what Krystal Frost and James Ross are capable of.
Patrick Hayes will walk out of Burgh Brawl 14 as the new NWA-East
Heavyweight Champion!!!
APRIL 5th, 2010 HOT NEWS FOR 4/5: BURGH
BRAWL 14 IS THIS SATURDAY NIGHT IN MCKEESPORT!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for April 5th!
--NWA East returns to The Jacob Woll Pavilion on Saturday night
April 10th with Burgh Brawl 14!
--Everybody is at odds in NWA East with Burgh Brawl 14 coming up this
weekend! So far, 31 men have been entered into the fracas, including 28
active members of the NWA East roster, the returning Kid Cupid and
debuting tag team, the TV Casualties of Tommy Horror & Johnny
Switchblade. For those unfamiliar with Burgh Brawl, it is a rumble-style
over-the-top-rope battle royal. If a wrestler eliminates the Brass
Knuckles or Three Rivers Champion, they receive a shot at that wrestler
and their title at a subsequent show. When a wrestler eliminates a tag
team champion, he will receive a shot at the tag team titles, teaming
with whomever eliminates the other tag team champion. The last man
standing will get a shot at the NWA East Heavyweight Title! CJ Sensation
will be at the biggest disadvantage in the battle royal, entering the
match first. Meanwhile, Jason Cage will be entering the battle royal
last, giving him what would seem to be the biggest advantage. However,
ANYBODY can win Burgh Brawl, so there is no counting out any individual!
With the winner getting a shot at the NWA East Heavyweight Champion,
it's every man for themselves! Enemies will work together! Partners will
clash! People will get chopped! It will be anarchy!
--In addition to the battle royal, there will be several matches on the
undercard. The NWA East Heavyweight Championship will be defended as
Ashton Amherst takes on his Team Mega partner Patrick Hayes! Hayes won a
Rankings Rumble match, earning himself a shot at the title at Burgh
Brawl. The champion just happened to be his partner in Ashton Amherst.
Amherst took exception to Hayes actually wanting the shot, and unleashed
a verbal tirade against Hayes, claiming he was tired of carrying their
team and that he was the #1 man in the team, and Hayes was his #2. At
Fallout.3, Hayes finally had enough and attacked Amherst, and laid him
out with an overhead gutbuster, holding the NWA East Heavyweight Title
high. Was that a preview of things to come?
--The NWA North American Tag Team Titles will also be on the line for
the first time ever in the same match as the NWA East Tag Team
Championship. North American Tag Team Champions Excellence Personified
will be defending their titles while the NWA East Tag Team Champions
Golden Reign will defend theirs. The challengers come in the form of the
Hansen Brothers and 987. Crusher & Tony Hansen have targeted Brandon K &
Scottie Gash and the NWA titles, while the NWA East champions Robert
Parker Williams & Ryan Reign have been attempting to take out Big Poppa
Gator & JB Destiny of 987. Somehow, Benjamin C. Steele was able to get
both of his teams (The Hansens & Golden Reign) into the same match, but
was not able to see the problem... both teams want to win. Crusher, as
usual, did not take kindly to Steele's mishandling of his affairs, as
seen recently in a YouTube video. Will his stable be in shambles after
this match? Who will come out on top with all the gold?
--Brandon K will also have his hands full with "Division 1" James Ross.
Ross has been a thorn in K's side for months now. Ross challenged K to a
singles match for Burgh Brawl, but with the added stipulation that if K
loses, he must join Team Mega. Will there even be a Team Mega left for K
to join, considering the possibilities of the NWA East Heavyweight Title
Match?
--Devin Devine has apparently taken his ball and gone home. He won the
NWA East Brass Knuckles Title, but left just as quickly as he returned,
and refuses to defend it. NWA East Senior Official PJ Parker, the only
authority left in this lawless promotion, has assigned a special
stipulation to the next scheduled title defense. If Devine refuses to
show up for his match against former teammate and training partner Chris
Taylor, he will be counted out and the title will be awarded to Taylor.
Not only that, but his manager Stacy Hunter will be barred from NWA East
until she returns the championship belt! Will he actually show up and
defend the title? Will Taylor win the Brass Knuckles Title by default?
--Rumor has it, Travis Fame & Apollyon have been training as a tag team
by studying videos of The Rockers...
--The Three Rivers Title will also be on the line at Burgh Brawl. "The
Steel City Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell won his first gold in NWA East by
pinning Dash Bennett for the title. While he was able to pin Bennett on
his own, he did have some help from CJ Sensation at ringside. Mitchell &
Sensation were no strangers to one another before that night, as it's
not much of a secret that the two men are drinking buddies, and friends
away from the ring. Sensation earned himself a shot at the title by
lasting in the Rankings Rumble, but he wouldn't turn away from a chance
at gold, no matter if the champion is friend or foe. Can these two
friends keep things civil once the bell rings, even though it's all
business?
--Retired NWA East star Jake Garrett was spotted at The Jake during
Fallout.3, watching the action and visiting some old friends...
--Also signed for Burgh Brawl is a Knockout Match between Chris LeRusso
and Troy Lords. 2010 has seen both men make a personality change. With
LeRusso's attitude change came a resentment towards wrestlers such as
Lords, who is now a fan favorite. LeRusso has repeatedly attempted to
spike Lords, and finally Lords had enough and spiked LeRusso himself,
and challenged him to this Knockout Match! It seems LeRusso would have
the advantage in the match, as he defeated Shirley Doe last year in a
similar match. Will he be able to do the same to Lords?
--There will also be 8-man tag action at Burgh Brawl as Shirley Doe,
Dash Bennett, and The Uprising team up to take on Mad Mike, Jason Cage,
Stryder, and a mystery opponent! There's no word as to whom the mystery
opponent may be, but rumors are swirling that it is a former NWA East
title holder! Who could it possibly be?!
--It all goes down THIS Saturday night April 10th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
"First Klass" Brandon K vs. "Division 1" James Ross w/ Krystal Frost If James Ross wins, Brandon K must join Team Mega
Knockout Match: "Balls Hot" Troy Lords vs. "The Untouchable" Chris LeRusso
"The Greatest American Villain" Dash Bennett w/ Stacy Hunter,
Shirley Doe, & The Uprising (Sean Dahmer & Payton Graham)
w/ JC Slick & Greg Cherry vs. Mad Mike, "Hot Property" Jason Cage,
Stryder, & ???
Plus much much more, featuring all
your favorite NWA East stars!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope to see
you at The Jake this Saturday night!!!
APRIL 5th, 2010 NWA EAST STARS TAKE TO
YOUTUBE TO TALK BURGH BRAWL!
Things are getting heated
among the NWA East locker room! We've received several YouTube videos
from NWA East stars about the upcoming Burgh Brawl 14 event (scheduled
to take place this Saturday night, April 10th, 2010, at the Jacob Woll
Pavilion in Renziehausen Park in McKeesport, PA at 7:30 PM sharp). Not
only is Team Mega at odds about their title match this weekend, but
things are not so well between Benjamin C. Steele's camp and good
buddies CJ Sensation and Ryan Mitchell!
In the summer of 2001, PWX/NWA-East returned to action after a six month
layoff while searching out a new facility to hold live events in. The
new facility was the now infamous Sportatorium where PWX would call home
for the next 5 years.
One of the first items on the agenda was to hold what was now becoming
an annual huge event for the promotion called Burgh Brawl. This would be
the fifth installment of the Royal Rumble style battle royal and this
year would mark the first time in which any man that eliminated a
champion in the battle royal, that wrestler would receive a title shot
at the title the next event. This is a unique concept that still holds
true today.
Burgh Brawl 5 had the extra added bonus of the winner not only receiving
a shot at the Heavyweight Title, but the winner would also become the
new commissioner of the promotion. The list of participants is a who's
who of NWA-East lore: Mad Mike, Nikita Allanov, Daron Smythe, Dash
Bennett, Scott Venom, Crusher Hansen, Big Poppa Gator, Cory K, Dirk
Ciglar, Bison, Quinn Magnum, Axel Law, Paul Atlas are just a few on the
list that included 5 members of the Circle Of Respect. However, the
ultimate winner of Burgh Brawl 5 was former Heavyweight and Tag-Team
Champion Bigg. Bigg was in co-hoots with then Heavyweight Champion and
the biggest villain in the promotion at the time... Brandon K!!
Bigg outlasted the competition with the help of other members of his
group in Big Poppa Gator and Cory K to win and become the new
Commissioner Of PWX and thus begin a reign of terror within the
promotion for the next 6 months. Bigg proudly proclaimed that the win
and the commissionership would not go to his head, but at the very next
event Bigg was carried out on a recliner by then NWA-East Pro Wrestling
Academy students Chris Taylor, Devine Devine, and Lance Dayton amongst
others. Bigg would sit upon his recliner on an elevated platform to
"rule" PWX.
APRIL 2nd, 2010 BURGH BRAWL 14 IS JUST
NEXT SATURDAY! A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BATTLE ROYAL!
Burgh Brawl 14 is
fast approaching as one man will stand tall on Saturday, April 10th and
win himself a Heavyweight Title shot at the April 24th event. Previous
Burgh Brawl's have seen anywhere from 20 to 36 competitors in recent
years and this year it appears as though the record of 36 could very
well be broken.
In addition, one of the most intriguing portions of the actual Burgh
Brawl Match is the stipulation that states that any wrestler that
eliminates a current champion in the huge battle royal, receives a shot
at that title the next live event. This stipulation has become a staple
of Burgh Brawl and ups the ante in the match itself.
To this point, here is a list of the wrestlers confirmed to be in Burgh
Brawl 14: James Ross, Troy Lords, Mad Mike, Shirley Doe, Criss
Crossfire, Plato Meramec, Brandon K, Scottie Gash, Crusher Hansen, Tony
Hansen, Chris LeRusso, Sean Dahmer, Payton Graham, Blue Dragon, Piston
Wiley, Travis Fame, Apollyon, Jon Burton, Chris Taylor, Dash Bennett,
Stryder, JB Destiny, Big Poppa Gator, Jason Cage, CJ Sensation, Ryan
Mitchell, Robert Parker Williams, & Ryan Reign. Plus, the return of Kid
Cupid in the big Burgh Brawl 14 match. Also we will see the debut of the
tag-team known as the TV Casualties: Tommy Horror & Johnny Switchblade.
That is a total of 31 wrestlers listed for Burgh Brawl 14 right now,
with a possibility of more!!
Previous Burgh Brawl winners include:
Burgh Brawl 13: Mad Mike
Burgh Brawl 12: Chris LeRusso
Burgh Brawl 11: Scottie Gash
Burgh Brawl 10: Scottie Gash
Burgh Brawl 9: Chris Taylor
Burgh Brawl 8: Mad Mike
Burgh Brawl 7: Crusher Hansen
Burgh Brawl 6: Bigg
Burgh Brawl 5: Bigg
Burgh Brawl 4: Guido Corleone
Burgh Brawl 3: Bubba The Bulldog
Burgh Brawl 2: Dennis Gregory
Burgh Brawl 1: Brian Anthony
MARCH 29th, 2010 Senior Official PJ Parker
Lays Down Law On Stacy Hunter and Brass Knuckles Champion Devin Devine
With no Championship
Committee around for the last two months, things have become way out of
control in the NWA-East. Even owner and President of NWA-East Jim Miller
has thrown his hands up at the situation. The inmates are truly running
the asylum with the only as semblance of authority coming in the way of
the NWA-East referees.
Senior Referee PJ Parker has actually taken matters into his own hands
regarding Devin Devine and the Brass Knuckles Title. Devin is the
current champion and has effectively taken the title and gone home with
no intentions of coming back to defend it or hand over the title belt
itself. Devin and his manager Stacy Hunter planned for Devin to walk
back into the NWA-East after being banned for life by then Championship
Committee member Shawn Patrick because Devin had piledriven Shawn after
Shawn outlawed his piledriver. Hunter and Devin's plan included Devin
coming back to the promotion when there was no authority to stop him and
win the Brass Knuckles Title. Mission accomplished. The second phase of
the plan was for Devin to leave the promotion and take the Brass
Knuckles Title and belt with him thus taking away something of great
value to the NWA-East and it's fans.... much like the way Devin believes
the NWA-East unjustifiably took away his career within the organization.
However, Devin is scheduled to face the man that he attended the
NWA-East Training Academy with over nine years ago in Chris Taylor!!
Stacy Hunter has told anyone and everyone that Devin will not be at
Burgh Brawl 14 and the Brass Knuckles Title is now defunct with Devin as
it's last champion. She simply explains "No belt, no title".
This is where Senior Official PJ Parker has created some authority
within a lawless promotion. PJ has stated that if Devin does not meet a
ten count upon the bell ringing for the Brass Knuckles Title Match, then
Devin will be counted out and the title can and will change hands upon a
count out and Chris Taylor will become hew champion. Realizing this not
may mean much to Devine or Hunter, PJ parker has also stated that if
Stacy Hunter does not produce either Devin himself or the Brass Knuckles
Title belt, then she would be banned from attending or managing in any
NWA-East event until the title belt is returned, Parker plans on having
all referees enforce this proclamation since the referees are the only
ones with any kind of authority in the NWA-East.
MARCH 15th, 2010 HOT NEWS FOR 3/15: ARE YOU
READY FOR THE FALLOUT THIS SATURDAY NIGHT IN RENZIE?
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for March 15th!
--NWA East returns to The Jacob Woll Pavilion on Saturday night
March 20th for Fallout.3!
--Things took an interesting turn after NWA East's last live event when
Patrick Hayes won a Rankings Rumble Match to earn a shot at the NWA East
Heavyweight Championship. The Champion just happens to be his Team Mega
stablemate and BFF, Ashton Amherst. Ashton made remarks after Hayes won
the match, referring to Hayes just being back-up to him. Hayes
took exception and the match is set for Burgh Brawl 14! Somehow, Amherst
was able to score the duo a shot at the NWA North American Tag Team
Champions Brandon K & Scottie Gash, Excellence Personified for March
20th. This may be the last chance to salvage the team, as rumors have
swirled about possible dissention backstage between Mega members
Amherst, Hayes, and James Ross. Can the former NWA East Tag Team
Champions put aside their recent differences and capture NWA tag team
gold?
--NWA East Three Rivers Champion Ryan Mitchell will be defending his
title twice in the next two shows. He is out to prove he is a fighting
champion, and he'll prove that when he defends against Chris LeRusso on
March 20th and CJ Sensation (runner up for the Rankings Rumble Match) at
Burgh Brawl 14 on April 10th. LeRusso is on a quest for gold in NWA
East, trying to prove that he deserves a spot on the roster moreso than
several members of the NWA East roster such as Troy Lords or Mad Mike.
Can he prove he's right on March 20th and end up against Sensation at
Burgh Brawl? Or will the SCP continue being a fighting champion all the
way to NWA East's annual spring event?
--What seems to be the opposite of fighting champions are the NWA East
Tag Team Champions Golden Reign. Robert Parker Williams and Ryan Reign
captured the titles on January 30th. Since then, they defended against a
pair of fallen men in Apollyon & Travis Fame following a beating from
The Uprising. Then, they intended to defend the titles against one man,
JB Destiny, until it was revealed that Destiny called on his old 987
partner Big Poppa Gator for back-up. Now, they have agreed to defend the
titles against the newest duo on the NWA East tag team roster... Criss
Crossfire & Plato Meramec. The duo united after Meramec took a beating
from Shirley Doe on March 6th and was assisted to the back by Crossfire.
While he may have scored a victory over Doe via count-out, Meramec has
yet to get a decisive pinfall or submission victory in NWA East rings.
Meanwhile, it's been months since Crossfire earned a win in NWA East.
They may become a hit as a tag team in the future, but in their first
outing as a team, can they really be called worthy tag title contenders?
--Elsewhere in the tag team division, The Uprising of Payton Graham &
Sean Dahmer will get another shot at JB Destiny. At February Fury, the
new team was faced with Destiny and his partner then, Paul Atlas. Now,
Destiny has even bigger back-up in the form of 987 partner Big Poppa
Gator. Can the young team of Dahmer & Graham upset the experienced duo
of 987? Also, Piston Wiley & Blue Dragon enter their second match as a
team as they take on Crusher Hansen & Joe Integra. Integra has been seen
for several months off-and-on as a member of Camp Crusher security at
ringside, harassing fans and taking liberties with Hansen's opponents.
Now, with no Championship Committee to hold him back, he is entering the
squared circle to take on an old friend of his, Piston Wiley. Not much
is known about the history between these men, but it's been said in the
locker room that they never got along. What will happen when they square
off on March 20th in tag action?
--Dash Bennett is now looking to get back into the title hunt following
an unsuccessful I Quit Match against CJ Sensation. Bennett was set to
compete in the Rankings Rumble Match for shots at singles gold at Burgh
Brawl, but was deemed unable to compete by the locker room medical staff
following a vicious chair shot from Sensation. Now, he'll enter singles
competition on March 20th against a newcomer to NWA East, Stryder.
Stryder was impressive in his debut against another former Brass Knux &
Three Rivers Champion, Chris LeRusso, then fell short for a bid in the
Rankings Rumble Match. However, he was not the man to get pinned in the
single-fall match, as LeRusso pinned Troy Lords. Can he pick up another
impressive victory over another former Three Rivers & Brass Knuckles
Champion in Bennett?
--In other singles action, "Division 1" James Ross of Team Mega will
take on the longest reigning NWA East Heavyweight Champion ever, Chris
Taylor. Also, the Madman from Dixmont, Shirley Doe, will be faced with
an old enemy in "Balls Hot" Troy Lords! Plus, Jon Burton continues his
Just Believe Tour as he takes on the monstrous rookie Tony Hansen! All
this and much more!!!
--It all goes down THIS Saturday night March 20th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
"Snapshot" CJ Sensation vs. "Hot Property" Jason Cage The winner enters the Burgh Brawl Battle Royal on April 10th last.
The loser enters the battle royal first.
Crusher Hansen & Joe Integra
w/ Benjamin C. Steele vs. Blue
Dragon & Piston Wiley
"Division 1" James Ross w/ Krystal Frost vs. Chris Taylor
"The Greatest American Villain" Dash Bennett w/ Stacy Hunter
vs. Stryder
Shirley Doe vs. "Balls Hot" Troy Lords
The Uprising ("The Hot Topic" Sean Dahmer & "Platinum" Payton Graham)
w/ Greg Cherry & JC Slick vs. 987 (Big Poppa Gator & JB
Destiny)
Tony Hansen vs. Jon Burton
Plus much much more, including: Travis Fame, Apollyon, and all
your favorite NWA East stars!

MARCH 1st, 2010 HOT NEWS FOR 3/1: WORLDS
WILL COLLIDE THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE JAKE!

--The inmates are running the asylum, and NWA East returns to The Jacob Woll Pavilion on Saturday night
February 20th for February Fury 3! For those unfamiliar with The Jake, it's located in McKeesport's
gorgeous Renziehausen Park, behind the tennis courts. Renzie Park is
located across the street from McKeesport Area High School, behind Penn

--NWA East Three Rivers Champion Ryan Mitchell has an NWA East
Heavyweight Title shot in the bank. He won the Golden Ticket Battle
Royal in January, awarding him one title shot for each NWA East title
throughout 2010. Instead of cashing his title shot in, he has turned his
issue with NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton Amherst into a matter of
pride. For months, Mitchell's matches with Amherst have been riddled
with trickery, interference, and distractions. Between Krystal Frost,
Amherst's running buddies James Ross & Patrick Hayes of Team Mega, and
the Heavyweight Title itself, two of the top wrestlers in NWA East have
become embroiled in a blood feud, making them bitter, angry, and
frustrated. So instead, Mitchell proposed an idea to Amherst. With a
memory of a match between them for an NWA East affiliate in Indiana, PA
in mind, Mitchell asked Amherst for a one-on-one non-title match with no
Team Mega or Krystal Frost at ringside. Mitchell's idea is that without
all the distractions, the two men can finally prove which one is the
better man, and Mitchell will save his title shot for a later date. But
for now, it's all about pride as Ashton Amherst & Ryan Mitchell tie it
up one more time!
--Speaking of tying it up one more time, "The Greatest American Villain"
Dash Bennett and his arch rival "Snapshot" CJ Sensation have been at
each others throats since August's Sean Shocker Evans Memorial
Tournament when they got into a physical altercation when Sensation was
sitting in the crowd, before he even actively returned to NWA East
competition. Since then, it's been a back and forth battle, with each
man getting a leg up on the other. But each time Sensation was about to
capitalize and finish off his opposition, Bennett's manager Stacy Hunter
stuck her nose into things. Just like the Amherst/Mitchell situation,
this became less about gold and more about pride. Bennett defeated
Sensation in January with the stipulation that Sensation would never
receive another Three Rivers Title shot as long as Bennett was champion,
of course with the help of Stacy Hunter. At the end of the night,
Bennett was forced to defend his title against Golden Ticket winner Ryan
Mitchell. With gold no longer in his sights, Sensation was out to cost
Bennett the same thing that was taken away from him: the Three Rivers
Title. Thanks to a little help from Sensation, Mitchell was able to take
the title away from Dash. Now, with the gold out of the way, it's about
who is the better man. After both men attacked the other at February
Fury 3, they agreed to settle the score once and for all... in an I QUIT
MATCH! Who will finally end up on top in this one? And will Stacy Hunter
play a factor in the result?
--We're not too sure who's idea this one was, without any Championship
Committee to call the shots. With Burgh Brawl 14 right around the
corner, and nobody to call the shots lately, things have to be worked
out for themselves. With that in mind, there will be a "Rankings Rumble
Match" this Saturday night. Never heard of a Rankings Rumble Match, you
say? Well, that's because it's a first-time-ever match in NWA East
history! The Rankings Rumble Match will feature the top 10 wrestlers on
the NWA East rankings (that aren't singles champions) in an elimination
match. The catch is, the final three men in the match will be guaranteed
a title shot at Burgh Brawl 14 on April 10th, 2010. The winner of the
match will win a shot at the NWA East Heavyweight Title at Burgh Brawl,
while the runner-up will receive a shot at the NWA East Three Rivers
Champion, and the 2nd runner-up will face the Brass Knuckles Champion.
Those ten men competing in the match are, in no particular order: Mad
Mike, Shirley Doe, Brandon K & Scottie Gash of Excellence Personified,
Patrick Hayes & James Ross of Team Mega, Chris Taylor, CJ
Sensation, and Dash Bennett!
-Mad Mike won Burgh Brawl last year, and got two Heavyweight Title shots
last year, but fell short in both.
-Shirley Doe was probably the toughest challenge then-champ Scottie Gash
faced all year, even stealing the title belt, but losing the eventual no
DQ match to Gash.
-Brandon K & Scottie Gash are both former Heavyweight Champions and would
love nothing but to get the gold back again, especially Gash who felt
cheated out of the title last year.
Chris Taylor is the longest reigning champion in NWA East history,
holding the title for over a year. If he got the gold, would he be able
to repeat that success?
-CJ Sensation has held every title in NWA East EXCEPT the Heavyweight
Gold. Could he finally break that curse and find himself at the top of
the mountain?
-The same could be said about Dash Bennett, voted the most improved
wrestler in NWA East for two years running. The Heavyweight Title would
cap off an incredible two year run by the "Greatest American Villain".
The big question is, why are James Ross & Patrick Hayes competing in the
match? Their running buddy Ashton Amherst is the Heavyweight Champion.
Are they in the match just to soften up another possible contender, or
to make sure nobody makes it through at all? Or are there ulterior
motives? Sure, anything can happen in the month between When Worlds
Collide and Burgh Brawl, but as it stands now, if one of them wins the
match this Saturday night, they'll be facing Ashton for the title. How
does the champ feel about that one?
--The NWA North American Tag Team Champions Excellence Personified are
frustrated with their lack of title defenses lately. But Scottie Gash &
Brandon K aren't blaming themselves, or the now non-existent
Championship Committee. Instead, they're blaming the NWA Board of
Directors. With a number of teams in the NWA rising the ranks, it seems
the Board of Directors has decided not to offer any of them a shot at
the champs. Instead, Gash & K came up with an idea at February Fury 3:
they will draw two names out of a hat filled with the top 15 ranked
wrestlers in NWA East, and those two men will face them for the titles
at When Worlds Collide 3 on March 6th! Well, the champs drew the names,
and they will now face the longest reigning NWA East Heavyweight
champion of all time Chris Taylor and former Brass Knuckles Champion
"Hot Property" Jason Cage! These four men are some of the most popular
stars in NWA East today, and certainly four of the most talented as
well. This one is sure to blow the roof off of the Jake this Saturday
night! Who will walk out with the gold?!
--More tag team gold will be on the line this Saturday night as the NWA
East Tag Team Champions Golden Reign will defend their titles. Just like
last time, Ryan Reign & Robert Parker Williams' manager Benjamin C.
Steele has promised they will defend the titles, but has not indicated
against whom. Three teams have challenged the champions as the tag team
scene broke out at February Fury when two new teams formed with one in
the works. The Straight Jacket Mafia has exploded and in the rubble has
emerged The Uprising. "The Hot Topic" Sean Dahmer & "Platinum" Payton
Graham, along with their managers Greg Cherry & JC Slick, laid waste to
Dahmer's former partner Apollyon and the man who came to his rescue,
Travis Fame, at February Fury 3. After the demolition, the tag champs
Golden Reign hit the ring and "defended their titles" against the fallen
tandem. It seems that a new team has also emerged from that skirmish, as
Fame & Apollyon have challenged the champions to a rematch. The "Rock &
Drache Connection" as they've been referred to in some circles, fought
valiantly but ultimately the beat down from the Uprising, the subsequent
beating from Golden Reign, and referee Crusher Hansen led to their
downfall. Another team has also challenged the champions to a match...
kind of. Always one to follow the beat of his own drum, Circle of
Respect member JB Destiny has challenged the champs to a tag title
match, but has not revealed the identity of his partner. At February
Fury, he came to the defense of All Business Brant, who was being
attacked by The Uprising, and brought back up in the form of another
Circle of Respect member Paul Atlas. If Destiny's name is chosen for the
title match, who will he bring this time? Another Circle of Respect
member? Will it B a name from the past, present, or future? An old
friend? Will the champs even choose one of the three teams who have
challenged them?
--The tag team scene is really heating up in NWA East as a third tag team
match has been added to When Worlds Collide this Saturday night! The
Brothers Hansen, Tony & Crusher, were unsuccessful in their debut
together against Mad Mike & Troy Lords. But after the match, Hansen
blamed the run-in by referee Piston Wiley and gave him a powerbomb for
his troubles. February Fury was Wiley's last night as a referee, and he
was unable to officiate another match thanks to the attack from Hansen.
Coming to his aid was the "King of Monsters" Blue Dragon, who ran off
the Hansen Brothers. Now, Dragon will team up with Wiley in his first
"official" NWA East match as they take on the tandem of Crusher Hansen &
his "little" brother Tony! Will Crusher once again insist on officiating
his own match, thus leading to a constant two-on-one situation? And how
will Piston Wiley fare in his NWA East debut?
--We'll also see singles action this Saturday night as Team Mega member
Patrick Hayes takes on the angriest man in professional wrestling, Mad
Mike! With both men in the Rankings Rumble Match that night, does that
make this match that much more important?
--Also, Rankings Rumble participant Shirley Doe will take on NWA East
newcomer Stryder. The Irish rugby enthusiast Stryder was able to win his
NWA East debut match against Chris LeRusso, but will he be able to take
out the Madman from Dixmont?
--Chris LeRusso will face "Balls Hot" Troy Lords in a match that has been
brewing since January. LeRusso was released from his NWA East contract
at the beginning of 2010, and felt slighted that he was let go, but
people like Lords were kept around. LeRusso and his buddies Greg Iron &
Bobby Beverly defeated Lords, Scottie Gash, & Mad Mike with the help of
LeRusso's trusty rusty spike he likes to keep around. At February Fury,
Lords was attacked at ringside by LeRusso, who was then taken out
(literally, out the front door of the Jake) by Mad Mike. Now this
Saturday night, LeRusso & Lords will go one on one. Can LeRusso back up
his claim that he was too good to let go, yet somebody like Lords should
have been in his place?
--We'll also see "JB" Jon Burton continue his promise to take on the NWA
East roster from bottom to top as he takes on Criss Crossfire. At
February Fury, Burton defeated newcomer Plato Meramec decisively. Can he
do the same with Crossfire? Or will Crossfire end JB's "Just Believe
Tour" early?
--It all goes down THIS Saturday night March 6th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
The Hansen Brothers (Crusher Hansen & Tony Hansen) vs. Blue
Dragon & Piston Wiley
"The Untouchable" Chris LeRusso vs. "Balls Hot" Troy Lords
Mad Mike vs. Patrick Hayes
Shirley Doe vs. Stryder
Jon Burton vs. Criss Crossfire
Plus much much more, including: The Uprising of Sean Dahmer &
Payton Graham, Travis Fame, Apollyon, JB Destiny, and all your favorite
NWA East stars!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope to see
you at The Jake this Saturday night!!!
FEBRUARY 4th, 2010 HOT NEWS FOR 2/4: HOT NEWS
OUT OF GENESIS 3, LEADING INTO FEBRUARY FURY 3!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for February 4th!
State: Allegheny Campus, just minutes from Rt. 48. There are
directions HERE,
courtesy of Google Maps. Tickets are on sale now by contacting NWA East at
nwaeasttickets@comcast.net
or nwaeast@comcast.net.
--The 2009 NWA East Year End Awards have been tallied, and the winners
have been decided! The results can be viewed HERE or by clicking the
link on the main page of nwaeast.org!
--With the NWA East Championship Committee disbanded, the inmates ran
the asylum this past Saturday night at Genesis 3. We've had sources
inside the locker room saying it was a tension-filled and chaotic night
both behind and in front of the curtain. With no Championship Committee,
matches are being arranged by the referees and participants themselves.
With that, here's some of the matches scheduled to take place on
February 20th
--The February Fantasy Free-For-Brawl concept has been altered since the
disbanding of the Championship Committee. Instead, there will be one
Free-For-Brawl match at February Fury, which was the top vote-getting
match in the online poll held here at nwaeast.org. The match will be
between the brand new NWA East Three Rivers Champion "The Steel City
Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell and the longest reigning NWA East Heavyweight
Champion of all time, Chris Taylor! Two of the most popular NWA East
stars will do battle in the squared circle with the Three Rivers Title
hanging in the balance! Rumor has it, the Fantasy Free-For-Brawl concept
will be a part of the NWA East's schedule every year, but who knows what
will happen with nobody in charge!
--The tag team scene is heating up in NWA East! We crowned new tag team
champions in Robert Parker Williams & Ryan Reign, being called
Distinguished Reign by their manager Benjamin C. Steele. Steele
contacted nwaeast.org's staff and informed us they will be defending the
titles at February Fury. Two teams will also be squaring off in
non-title action as the newly-formed team of NWA East Circle of Respect
member JB Destiny teams up with young lion Travis Fame to take on the
Straight Jacket Mafia! The new team of Fame & Destiny will have a climb
ahead of them as they take on the established team of former tag team
champions!
--NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton Amherst will be defending the
title on February 20th against a man who holds a pinfall victory over
the champ from back in June during the Chosen Four series: "Hot
Property" Jason Cage! In the locker room after Genesis 3, Amherst was
confronted by Cage, who brought up Amherst's recent comments on
nwaeast.org and Cage's victory back in June. Eager to get back his win
from Cage, Amherst agreed to defend the title on February 20th against
the former Brass Knuckles Champion! Will history repeat itself on
February 20th?
--Speaking of Amherst, he was confronted by an old enemy on January
30th: Jon Burton! The Pittsburgh sportscaster informed Amherst he will
be returning to action to come after the brash young NWA East Champ. But
with no Championship Committee, and Burton having been out of action for
several months, he'll have to fight his way from the bottom of the NWA
East roster to the top, to get his shot at Amherst. That's a goal the
mega-popular Burton is willing to achieve, so he'll start on February
20th!
--Speaking of the Brass Knuckles Title, the new champion Devin Devine
will be defending the title on February 20th as well. HIs challenger
will be one-half of the NWA North American Tag Team Champions and a
former NWA East Heavyweight Champion, "The Spotlight" Scottie Gash! Gash
and Devine are no strangers to one another, and Gash did not like Devine
bucking the system and coming back because the Championship Committee
was gone, just like the men who attacked him this past Saturday, Chris
LeRusso, Gregory Iron, & Bobby Beverly. With that, Gash will challenge
Devine for the title on the 20th!
--Nobody knows what prompted Mad Mike & Troy Lords to run out and save
Scottie Gash from the attack of the outlaws Gregory Iron, Bobby Beverly,
and Chris LeRusso. Whatever it was, the bond of respect for each other
had formed, and the two men will team up on February 20th. Their
opponents will be the debuting duo of "The Enforcing Official" Crusher
Hansen & his "little" brother Tony Hansen! Tony Hansen has been seen at
ringside as a member of Camp Crusher Security for the past year or so,
and has been training under his big brother Crusher. Crusher, once fired
from NWA East, bucked the system with the Championship Committee gone,
and got his referees license again! Many older fans may remember Hansen
once referees his own matches, and has decided to continue that
tradition as his way to get back into NWA East's roster. On February
20th, old rivals Crusher & Mike will do battle once again, on opposite
sides of a tag team match!
--Shirley Doe and Blue Dragon will do battle one more time in the
squared circle, following an altercation on January 30th where Doe
accosted Dragon's one-time tag partner Jake Garrett for becoming a
"sidekick" and teaming with a "cartoon character". Though Jake got
revenge for those statements by pinning Doe in his farewell PWX match,
Dragon still wants to get his hands on the "Madman from Dixmont" for his
disparaging comments. Doe is more than willing to step up to a fight,
and it will go down February 20th when he takes on the "King of
Monsters"!
--An up and coming star will be making his NWA East debut on Saturday
February 20th as the youngster Stryder takes on "The Untouchable" Chris
LeRusso! LeRusso joined Bobby Beverly and Gregory Iron in an attack on
Scottie Gash and subsequent six-man tag with Mad Mike & Troy Lords. The
group, released from their NWA East contracts on January 1st, decided to
take advantage of the Championship Committee being disbanded, feeling
they were wrongfully released. Beverly & Iron will not be in attendance
on the 20th, but LeRusso will be and has decided to compete against the
first person to step up to the challenge. That person was Stryder, who
has gotten nothing but rave reviews from others inside NWA East to this
reporter. Rumor has it, Stryder getting this first step in the door of
NWA East was one of the last acts of said Championship Committee. Will
he make the most of this first opportunity? Or will LeRusso be able to
prove the Championship Committee made a mistake by letting him go?
--It all goes down Saturday night January 30th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
Mad Mike & "Balls Hot" Troy Lords vs. Crusher Hansen & Tony Hansen
Shirley Doe vs. Blue Dragon "The Untouchable" Chris LeRusso vs. Stryder
The Straight Jacket Mafia (Sean Dahmer & Apollyon) vs. Travis Fame & JB
Destiny
Jon Burton vs. TBA
Plus much much more, including: "First Klass" Brandon K, Team
Mega of James Ross & Patrick Hayes, "Platinum" Payton Graham, "The
Greatest American Villain" Dash Bennett, "Snapshot"
CJ Sensation, Criss Crossfire,
and all your favorite NWA East stars!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope
to see you at The Jake on February 20th!
The NWA East Heavyweight
Champion Ashton Amherst sent this video to NWAeast.org, making a huge
statement to the NWA East roster!
JANUARY 22nd, 2010 HOT NEWS FOR 1/22: THINGS
ARE GETTING WILD FOR JANUARY 30TH'S GENESIS 3
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for January 22nd!
--The holiday hiatus is over, and NWA East returns to The Jacob Woll Pavilion on Saturday night
January 30th with
Genesis 3!
--It's been a long time since we've seen you all, and lots has happened
in thst time, so let's get right to it!
--The NWA East Championship Committee has been disbanded! Nobody is in
charge of NWA East right now, so we have no clue what is in store for
January 30th. Rumor has it, a number of NWA East stars (we've heard up
to three, but can't confirm any of them) have been in discussion about
returning on January 30th! In addition to that, NWA East Circle of
Respect member JB Destiny has told us he will be in attendance that
night! You never know who will show up!
--One person who claims they will show up is Crusher Hansen. Despite
losing a Career vs. Career Match almost four months ago, he is still
trying to hang around and get his job back some way, somehow. Who knows
what he has in store for January 30th?!
--The Top Ten NWA East Wrestlers of the Decade will be announced at
Genesis 3 on January 30th. Hundreds of wrestlers passed through the
doors of NWA East between 2000 and 2009, and we'll look back and see who
were the cream of the crop. A panel of experts and industry insiders
searched through the archives at NWA East Headquarters and decided on
ten who rose above the rest. Who tops the list? Find out January 30th!
--A new match signed for January 30th will see NWA East Three Rivers
Champion Dash Bennett taking on his recent rival CJ Sensation for the
title! Sensation challenged Bennett to one more title match on the 30th.
Bennett accepted, but only under one condition: this is his last chance
at the title! Can CJ finally get his hands on the gold? Or will Bennett
continue his reign of terror?
--NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton Amherst will also be defending
his title, and it will be against the "Steel City Prodigy" Ryan
Mitchell! At Do or Die 3 back in November, Ryan Mitchell snapped. "The
Steel City Prodigy" was facing the NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton
Amherst. Amherst's manager, Krystal Frost, jumped on the ring apron as
Mitchell was about to deliver a Steel Curtain DDT to the champion, and
while Mitchell's attention was diverted, Amherst took advantage and
pinned Mitchell... with a handful of tights. After the match, Mitchell
attacked the champ, laying him out with a huge sign shot, shoving
several NWA East officials in the process. A contract was signed for a
rematch back in December, and it's officially on for January 30th!
-Jake Garrett shocked the world when he unmasked to reveal himself as
the mysterious second Blue Dragon who popped up on the scene in NWA East
this past April. Garrett, a former tag team champion in NWA East and
across the Pittsburgh area, one again gained tag team gold with his
partner, Blue Dragon. But, with Double Dragon falling out of contention,
he unmasked and thanked his partner for helping him get another run with
the titles. Then, he shocked his partner by challenging him to a
one-on-one match, saying it will be his final match before he retires
from professional wrestling. The Battle of the Blue Dragons will take
place at Genesis 3, as the wrestling world says goodbye to "The
Mastermind" Jake Garrett!
--The NWA North American Tag Team Champions, Brandon K & Scottie Gash,
will be in singles action on January 30th. Gash will be faced with
"Balls Hot" Troy Lords, who has been struggling to pick up the one big
win he needs to get into the upper echelon of the NWA East. K will be
taking on James Ross, the obnoxious young star who, along with his
partner Patrick Hayes, has been after the North American Tag Titles for
several months now. How will th champs fare in singles action?
--The Golden Ticket Battle Royal will also take place on January 30th.
It has been a staple of NWA East's calendar year for the last several
years now, with each winner finding their own success. In 2008, James
Ross won the battle royal and later captured the NWA East Three Rivers
Championship with his title shot. In 2009, Gregory Iron won the battle
royal and won the Three Rivers Championship as well, and even came
within inches of winning the Heavyweight Championship. Who will come out
on top this year?
--"Hot Property" Jason Cage will be defending the Brass Knuckles Title
on January 30th! Since he returned to NWA East, Cage has been on fire,
racking up the victories until his title win back at the Anniversary
Show in September. But who will step up to the plate on January 30th?
--It all goes down Saturday night January 30th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
"Division 1" James Ross vs. "First Klass" Brandon K
"Balls Hot" Troy Lords vs. ""The Spotlight" Scottie Gash The Golden Ticket Battle Royal An invitational over-the-top-rope battle royal where the winner
receives a shot at every NWA East championship once over the course of
2010 at any time of their choosing!
Plus much much more, including: Robert Parker Williams, Ryan
Reign, Travis Fame, "Platinum" Payton Graham, the Straight Jacket Mafia,
and all your favorite NWA East stars!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope
to see you at The Jake on January 30th!
JANUARY 18th, 2010 NWA EAST CHAMPIONSHIP
COMMITTEE DISMISSED BY JIM MILLER
In a shocking
development, the NWA-East Championship Committee(currently Vince Kaplack
and Shawn Patrick) has been relieved of their duties by owner Jim Miller
effective immediately.
Miller has stated that while he has the up most respect for both Vince
Kaplack and Shawn Patrick, he feels that both have become far too
separated from having their finger on the pulse of the promotion in the
last few months.
In the past several months, the Championship Committee has appointed Joe
Dombrowski as the hands-on Spokesperson but that went sour as Dombrowski
gradually allowed the position of power go to his head clouding any
impartial judgments on his part. Furthermore, Dombrowski's obsession
with Kid Cupid and The Midnight Lover proved to be a major distraction
as well. Eventually, Dombrowski would lose the Spokesperson's job to The
Midnight Lover(who in turn turned it over to the reinstated Kid Cupid).
Miller cited the facts that The Championship Committee did nothing to
halt Dombrowski's abuse of power which then led to a respected position
becoming a mockery when Kid Cupid took over. Miller also made mention of
their inability to control the situation with Crusher Hansen as Hansen's
manager BC Steele has submitted contract after contract to sneak Hansen
back into the building despite the fact that Hansen lost a 'Loser Leaves
NWA-East' match against Jon Burton at the 15th Anniversary Show.
The final straw appears to be the parting of ways with Chris LeRusso,
Bobby Beverly, and Gregory Iron as Miller indicated that allowing three
young talents like these to walk away was a major mistake that should
not have ever happened.
Miller, however, did say that the door would be open for both Patrick
and Kaplack to return to the Committee in the future if either man
wishes to resume full hands-on duties. In the meantime, no replacements
have been named to the Committee, which leads to the question of who
will be enforcing the rules and signing the matches?? Miller has
indicated that the "inmates will not run the asylum" as he will be the
man watching over things until a new Committee can be determined.
One wrestler, who wishes to remain anonymous, had this to say when asked
by the website about the shocking announcement: "How can Jim Miller
think he is going to control things and watch over the wrestlers when he
doesn't even know who half of them are anymore?"
Another wrestler proclaimed that this was a blessing in disguise because
that means no more Dombrowski screwing things up or Cupid playing
children's games.
Former NWA-East wrestler Crusher Hansen made it a point to contact us
and when asked his opinion on this matter stated he will have to check
things out for himself at the next live event. When reminded that he is
still not a part of the active roster, Hansen simply asked 'Who's gonna
stop me from showing up? Jim Miller? Please. The man is too busy selling
his hotdogs to run anything.....
Things could get a bit chaotic on January 30th it appears....
